Social Development meets NPOs (Not for Profit Organisations)
25 January 2023, The department conducted a session with the role players of NPOs, to touch bases in order to check whether the department and funded NPOs are on the same par. The meeting was attended by NPO Managers and Board Chairpersons.
Social Developments aims to strengthen relationships with NPOs and to always share information as well as experiences. Information such as; NPO funding/to show transparency in funding allocations to NPOs in the Sub Districts. And non compliance of NPOs which will lead to de-register of those organizations which are not complying with the NPO Act71 of 1997.
The Department is expected to provide information on funding so that citizens must know and have insight about financial status of the department that is allocated to them, Batho Pele Principle.
It has also been observed that some of the NPOs submit their claims very late and with signatures of board members who have long left the organization. NPOs are encouraged to send their claims to the district as the mandate of paying NPOs is given to the district to execute.
