Accelerating actions for a poverty free mpumalanga
The International Day for the Eradication of Poverty is observed as per the resolution 47/196 of the United Nations General Assembly. This day is observed aiming to promote awareness of the need to fight poverty and destitution in all countries.
As part of supporting this day, the department continues to support organisations that see a need to reduce poverty and ensure food security in communities of Mpumalanga The department continues to engage with communities across the province through CNDC’s with a view of extending a helping hand towards povery aliviation measures. The development and establishment of Community Nutritional Development Centres (CNDC) are mainly aimed at addressing issues of hunger and poverty in communities. The department’s involvement in these initiatives comes in a form of financial support and donations of various working tools that can be used by centres for daily operations.
The department’s vision in supporting these initiatives is on ensuring food security and that communities are able to generate reasonable income and ways of sustaining themselves and their families through the supported CNDCs. In addition to the support the department also extends the help by regularly profiling and identifying the most needy households and providing them with food parcels.
